Response from Mike O’Donnell:

First, I acknowledge that we have an issue with affordable housing in our community.  I am hopeful that the new Council will continue some of the present programs including:

• Funding to support a position with the City of Regina – The Affordable Housing Manager.
• Continue to provide capital contributions such as the current per door basis for the construction of new apartment style housing to make them affordable.
• Continue to provide Tax Abatements and moving this program into new areas of the city not currently served.

As well, if elected, I will assist the new Council in advancing the cause to the senior levels of government – as a united voice – to continue to bring the matter to their attention, continue to make them aware of the City of Regina response to date and a willingness to work together to bring relief to those most affected.
