Village Networks Coordinator

 

POSITION TITLE: Village Networks Coordinator

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Social Programs

 

The Village Networks Coordinator is a three-year term position.

 

The Village Networks program will support single mothers by building neighbourhood-level networks among single mothers/families to reduce social isolation; by providing educational and program resources in response to community identified needs; by developing and supporting community-level leadership by single mothers; and by developing a model and knowledge base that can be transferred to other communities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Research the needs in our community in regards to single mother headed families;
  • Create and document an adaptable, evidence-supported program model that can be transferred to other communities;
  • Increase social cohesion for Regina lone-parent families headed by women in order to positively affect the social determinants of health and well-being--especially child development, social support, and access to services;
  • Improve access to resources and services for lone-parent families, including health, recreation, education, parenting, life skills, and employment resources;
  • Develop community level leadership capacity among single mothers through participation in “Village Networks”; and
  • Maintain confidentiality and other ethical principles.

 

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with community organizations and the needs of single mothers;
  • Experience with research and program development;
  • A demonstrated understanding of community development principles and practices, and the capacity to recruit and manage volunteers;
  • Demonstrated respect for children and families of various backgrounds;
  • Ability to manage time appropriately;
  • Skills in problem-solving and managing multiple demands;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Valid Saskatchewan driver's license;
  • Criminal record check; and
  • A BSW, BEd or an equivalent degree.
