Nomination Process

NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS

The nominee must be a woman (or group of women) who live in Southern Saskatchewan at the time of nomination. Regretfully, no posthumous nominations will be accepted.

An individual may be named in only one category each year. The selections committee may, in consultation with the Nominator, reclassify a Nominee to a more appropriate category.

All nominees must consent in writing to their nomination by signing the Nomination Form.

Nominees are encouraged to be available to attend the Nominees’ Reception on Sunday, April 13, 2008 and Women of Distinction Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 1, 2008.

Nominees must be 18 years of age or older. Nominees in the Young Woman of Distinction Award Category must be 18-30 years of age as of March 9, 2008.

Past award recipients may be re-nominated for a category in which they did not receive an award.

The Nominee must not be a member of the Women of Distinction committee, the Women of Distinction Selections Committee, YWCA Regina Board of Directors, or a YWCA Regina staff member.

NOMINATOR QUALIFICATIONS

Men or women, or groups of men and/or women, living in Southern Saskatchewan may nominate a deserving woman (or group of women) in any category.

The nominator must not be a member of the Women of Distinction Committee, the Women of Distinction Selections Committee, YWCA Regina Board of Directors or YWCA Regina staff member.

SELECTIONS PROCESS

The Selections Committee is an independent group of volunteers from the community. They are chosen because they are strong representatives of at least one of the award categories. Their deliberations are confidential and their decisions are based solely on information presented in nomination packages.

All nominations will be treated confidentially.

All Nominators and Nominees will be notified by mail that their nomination package has been received and will be reviewed by the Selections Committee.

The Nominations Committee will verify nominee qualifications.

NOMINEES’ RECEPTION

A Nominees’ Reception will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Conexus Arts Centre. At this time, all Nominees in each category will be introduced and celebrated for their many contributions. Each Nominee will receive TWO complimentary tickets to the event, and each nominator will receive ONE. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5 and are available through the YWCA Regina:

AWARDS GALA

All Nominees are invited to be the special guests of the YWCA and Women of Distinction Committee at the Thursday, May 1, 2008 Awards Gala and will receive ONE complimentary ticket to the event. Additional tickets may be purchased through the YWCA Regina (see above).
