Childbirth Education
YWCA childbirth classes

Isabel Johnson Shelter
Isabel Johnson Shelter is a safe
place to stay while you work through future plans. If you are a woman who needs to get away from an abusive situation, then you are eligible to stay, with or without children. There is no charge.

family, it affects every member. Often adults assume that children are not aware. But children take in the sights and sounds and feelings of abuse in the home. It affects their emotions, their behaviour, and the way that they view themselves and the world around them.

No one should be homeless in a
country with Canada's resources. Yet, across the country, we are witnessing dramatic increases in the number of people with no place to call home.
Kikinaw Residence
Providing quality housing and
support services that empower women is a priority for the YWCA movement. YWCA Turning Point residences provide more than just a safe, affordable roof over women's heads. Our staff and programs respond to the varied needs of those who stay with us. Kikinaw, meaning "our home" in Cree, supports women from teens to seniors through short and long-term stays.
Adapting from the Housing First model of service, My Aunt’s Place focuses on developing relationships with landlords and seeking safe, affordable housing for the families. In addition, an Outreach Worker works with the families after they have left the shelter to ensure the necessary supports are in place in order to keep stable housing. The facility accommodates 22 nightly, and operates at close to 100% capacity.
